Diwali

A festival of lights is a reasonable thing to own the right equipment for.

Warm amber and gold along every line, deepening toward the peaks. A slow chase that moves the way a row of diyas does when the wind gets at them. Or a steady, generous gold across the whole front of the house for the full five days.

Diwali falls in late October or November here, which in Alberta means it is properly dark by six and there is a decent chance of snow on the ground. Warm gold light on a white yard is one of the better things this system does.

Set it for the week and let it run on a schedule. The house is lit when you come home from work, lit while people are arriving, and back to your everyday white when the festival ends — without anyone going outside in the cold to change anything.
